It’s time for SAARS members to get ready for Florida Parks on the Air (FLSPOTA), April 3 and 4, 2021.
This event was started by a group of amateur radio operators from central Florida who love to get out and operate portable in our beautiful home state, with the intent to:
- Promote public awareness of ham radio and Florida’s state parks system
- Contribute to the recognition and appreciation of Florida’s diverse ecology
- Encourage camaraderie and sportsmanship among Florida’s Amateur Radio Operators, and
- Provide a venue for Florida amateurs to get out and enjoy operating in the great outdoors.
See the event web site at Florida Parks On The Air or more information.

In order to coordinate our operation throughout the weekend we are looking for members to volunteer for these positions for the event:
- Band Manager – assigns band to each operator position during the day
- Antenna Coordinator – determines antenna farm layout and filtering scheme
- Log Keeper – creates logs sheets, collects at end of day, submits to FLSPOTA for scoring
Please consider volunteering for one of these positions for one or both of the days, it will help make the event even more successful.
Stay tuned for additional communication regarding this event, including a survey to collect information from attendees and a Zoom meeting invitation for a planning event on the evening Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
Please call or write with any questions or comments.
