SAARS Silent Key W4CXM Lives On

2015-03-28_14-38-56_813.pngOn a sunny Saturday afternoon in March 2015 SAARS members came together to dismantle the antennas and tower of SAARS silent key Samuel Snook Jr., W4CXM. The new homeowner contacted a SAARS member inquiring if anyone would be willing to take down the tower and antennas. After only a couple of calls plans were in motion. (View the pictures)

Jim Morrell KF4MX, Doug Stewart KI4NAD, Rick Hatton KK4GGL, and Alan Alsobrook KD4QOF all came together to tackle the project. Four hours later the tower was down and all items were removed. SAARS President, Doug Stewart KI4NAD, advised that some of the useable items could be used at field day while other parts and pieces might be given to members.

There is little doubt that Mr. Snook is smiling down on us. He would surely be very happy to know that he has once again helped SAARS continue it’s momentum and contributed to the growth of amateur radio in St. Augustine, FL.
